The Swish Insider: say hi to Bubbles from the Bowral Swish store!

In today’s Swish Insider issue, we grill Bubbles from Bowral Swish store, a local patriot at heart.
We discuss the charming town of Bowral and its surroundings, as well as Bubble’s fav picks from the Swish store.

Bubbles’ isn’t really her first name but due to her vivacious personality, nobody calls her Merrian. Just wait until you get to the end of the interview to see why!

Hello Merrian, can you please introduce yourself to our readers? Please tell us a couple of words about you, we’d like to know more about a member of the Swish Team.

My name is Merrian otherwise known in the Swish family as Bubbles.

I have lived in the beautiful Southern Highlands of NSW for over thirty years.

I started in the retail sector in 1973 predominantly in the beauty business of skincare and makeup which I might add goes hand in hand with fashion!

How long have you been working in the Bowral Swish store?

I have been working as the Manager of the Swish store in Bowral for eight and a half years, it is my baby and my passion. My goal always is my customers' happiness and to provide the most professional help in making the most of their figure with our wonderful fit and fashions.

Do you mind telling us how it all started?

I had just finished in my position as a State rep for an Australian makeup company.

Sitting over a cup of tea I responded to the ad in our local paper. On the day of my interview, I was welcomed into the "Swish Family" by Anita Carmody the owner of this amazing fashion company SWISH.

Who are your customers and what do you like the most about them? Are they mostly from Bowral or do they come from other cities like Wollongong?

Our beautiful customers are both local's and Highland visitors. We have lots of regulars/long-time loyal customers from Sydney, Canberra, Wollongong and the South Coast. Many international visitors are also popping in and taking home a little “Swish" from their travels.

Imagine a perfect day in Bowral… how would you spend it? Which places would you recommend to a visitor?

Imagine a bright sunny but a little cool day in the Southern Highlands... I would take a short drive to the beautiful old historic town of Berrima taking in the picturesque surrounds, wineries and shops. Then finish up at one of my favourite places Bendooley Estate to enjoy great food and wine by the big open fire.

For the movie lovers I would suggest a visit to the renown Empire cinemas in the middle of the main street in Bowral and after that take a short walk just up the road to the award-winning Gumnut patisserie for the best pies and cakes anywhere.

Once you lock the door of the Swish Bowral store, what do you do after work? Are you more of an outdoorsy type or do you prefer to stay in?

Once I finish my working day in the Bowral Swish store I head home to prepare dinner for my wonderful husband of 41 years or we both jump in and create something yummy to eat together as we both love to cook. At this stage in our life we are doing a little travelling and be a bit adventurous outside the box we live in, but in saying that we love to bunker down in front our open fire with our two doggies.

What is your favourite piece from Swish Fashion store? If you could take only one item to a desert island, what would that be?

That's an easy one as I absolutely love my Black 1028 short cami dress that I can change and wear in so many different ways. I will match it with the 1006 7/8 wide leg pant and then throw over any bright open jacket as I am only 5 feet tall.

A couple of my favourite jackets are the China Doll style 44010 and style 54038 Gia Floral.

Now let me think the one thing I would take to a desert island... would have to be a cold bottle of Bubbles :-)
